iOS 6.0.1 Update and Jailbreak

Apple has just put out an update for iOS6. It fixes the horizontal lines that show up on your keyboard and a bunch of other things. But for those whom want to eventually jail break their devices I would not update to 6.0.1 I don't know about you but I can live with pseudo lines on my keyboard if I could just be jail Broken.



As you see here on the screen shot Apple is not calling it 6.0.1 on the iPhone 5 so they almost tricked me.

iPhone 5 / iOS 6 JAIL BREAK

In less than 24 hours of the NEW iPhone 5 release it is Jail Broken. Don't get too excited yet it will still take some time to be a public release but not as long as it took for the iPhone 4S.

iPhone hacker Chpwn posted photos of Cydia running on a jailbroke iPhone 5, confirming that there is a possibility for an iPhone 5 jailbreak for the general public, as spotted by iPhone5untetheredjailbreak.

Chpwn confirmed the iPhone 5 running iOS 6 was jailbroken to ion1c, another iPhone hacker.

This is great news for the jailbreak community, considering the challenge of a new version of iOS and a new processor.

There are many reasons to jailbreak the iPhone 5, but the ability to run software not found in the official Apple App Store is one of the biggest. These iPhone jailbreak apps let users take greater control over the iPhone an customize the appearance of the software in many ways.

Jailbreak or upgrade to iOS6

To update or not to update, that is the question.
Apple unleashed iOS 6 on the world today, and as with any new iOS release, the update temporarily kills jailbreaking. A public jailbreak for iOS 6 will be released eventually, but it will likely take months. Until then, the latest jailbreak-friendly version of iOS is 5.1.1.

If you’re jailbroken on iOS 5.1.1, should you bother with updating to iOS 6 before the new jailbreak comes out? Here’s why you should, and here’s why you shouldn’t.

Why You Should
You think iOS 6′s 200+ new features are super awesome, and you just can’t live without them for a couple months.
You’re bored of your iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, and you want to hop on the Apple kool-aid bandwagon.
It’s not that you’re bored with jailbreaking, but you can live without your Cydia tweaks for awhile.
Why You Shouldn’t
iOS 6 isn’t really that magnificent of an upgrade, and your jailbroken iPhone is just too cool for school already.
It might take a really long time for hackers to get an iOS 6 jailbreak ready for prime time. Are you prepared to wait that long?
If you really rely on a number of special jailbreak tweaks every day, then upgrading to iOS 6 is probably not worth it right now.
Once a new version of iOS drops, you can’t downgrade back to the previous version. That means the window of opportunity for installing iOS 5.1.1 (the latest software version that can be fully jailbroken) is closing rapidly. Absinthe will still jailbreak iOS 5.1.1, but you’re locked out once you update to iOS 6. Time to choose your poison.

In cydia you are going to want to do a search for 'Browser Changer'



Is pretty easy. Once installed choose your default browser in the setting app.

If you are a fanatic like me then you want to play with iOS now. I found something that will pacify us for a day. It will also piss you off because its not the real iOS 6 it's just a theme. You must have winter board installed.

AirPlay HBO GO on Apple Tv (The Simple Way)

For those of you that have an iOS device (i.e. iPad, iPod Touch, or iPad) that also use the HBO GO app have noticed that you can NOT stream HBO GO via AirPlay to your HDTv.

HBO displays a message on screen that sites the inability for HD output. Really what they are doing is restricting you from going house to house with the HBO channel at the ready. You paid for it so you should be able to use it.

Here is what you will need to WIRELESSLY stream HBO GO to your AppleTv:


1) A JailBroken iOS Device (I recommend an iPad due to better resolution when blowing up to the size of a TV screen)

2) DisplayOut (Download this package from Cydia it's $2.99 but worth every penny.






3) HBO GO (you probably already have it)




After you install the DisplayOut hack from Cydia you are ready to go. Just launch the HBO GO app and mirror from your device and DisplayOut takes care of the rest. 
Not necessary to configure by if you want to adjust the settings of DisplayOut just go to the native iOS settings app. Now you can watch HBO GO on your Apple Tv.

Octopus keyboard Hack from BBX

Research In Motion recently gave the world a preview of its next-generation BlackBerry 10 software. While investors weren’t terribly impressed with RIM’s efforts and the company’s stock took a hit, developers and users alike were intrigued by several features shown off by the struggling smartphone maker. One such feature is the predictive text implementation in BlackBerry 10, which places word predictions on keys expected to be in the user’s path as he or she types on a smartphone’s virtual keyboard. A swipe upward on a key containing a word prediction will input the word. While BlackBerry users will likely have to wait until the fourth quarter to begin enjoying RIM’s new text input system, iPhone users can enjoy a reproduction of the technology now. iDownloadBlog recently unearthed a new system tweak called Octopus Keyboard in Cydia, the unauthorized third-party app store for jailbroken iOS devices. Though still in beta, the free app does a good job mimicking RIM’s predictive text mechanism, and a video showcasing the implementation can be viewed below.

Widgets for the iPhone. Dashboard X

Dashboard X brings widgets to your iPhone. I'm not a big widgets guy but I must say I think this is pretty cool.

Try it out from Cydia. Also it may be a good idea to download "gridlock" so you can move your app around the widgets.
